After the fleet discovered Earth, Carrie was offered a position on the design team. Assigned to investigate every Colonial ship and design new Colonial-Earth hybrids from the data, Carrie found the team both stifling and hard minded. Though the Earthers knew nothing about Colonial technology, they were determined to find everything out for themselves, pushing the Colonials to the edges of the group.
Eventually tiring of the attitudes and bad pay, she quit the military altogether after just a few months. Carrie spent a few months travelling around the U.S. and Canada, working as she went to pay her way. Ending up in Nevada, she found out about legalised prostitution and, specifically, ranches. Having had experience in prostitution for a couple of years when she was young, she figured it was as good a job as any for the time being and got the necessary paperwork before looking for a place at a ranch, soon finding a live-in place at The Cherry Pie Ranch, an hour and a half or so away from the Strip.
She spends much of her time off work in the city, staying at motels or the cheaper hotels, depending on the weeks takings, just relaxing.
